いろんな方面で争っているSUNとMSがシングルサインイン（シングルサインオン）の分野で技術協力することを表明。簡単に書いちゃうと「いろんなサイトのログインを一括管理してしまおうというもの」確かに便利そうだけど怖いとこもあったりいっちゃえばセキリティ一発破られるだけでパスワード全わかりみたいになるのです。「クレカいれた財布おとすようなもの？」なんで素人考えなわけですが。
Ballmerによると、このソフトウェアはおそらく2006年に登場する両社の製品に搭載されることになるという。いまのところ、この技術は最も具体的な両社の協力例となる。両社はかつて熾烈な争いを繰り広げていたが、2004年に訴訟に和解し、特許の相互利用と両社ソフトの互換性実現に合意していた。
